Q: What are the rules of soccer?
A: The Fédération Internationale de Football Association otherwise known as FIFA (fē’-fă) is the governing world body of soccer. The official rule book is available at this link Laws of Soccer.
Q: Are there any special rules for each age group?
A: Although FIFA rules govern play, SSC modifies these rules, as deemed appropriate, for our each of the children’s age groups. See Program Details for information on age specific rules.
Q: What ages can play in SSC?
A: Children from 3 to 13 years old can play soccer on SSC teams. See Program Details for information on age requirmements.
Q: When and where do the kids play soccer?
A: The U4 (co-ed) Developmental Clinics, as well as the games for the girls U5, U6, U7, U9 and U10 groups are held at on Saturdays at Stillwell Fields. The girls U8 games are held on Saturdays at Baylis Elementary School.
Games for the boys U5, U6, U7, U9 and U10 groups are held at on Sundays at Stillwell Fields. The boys U8 games are held on Sundays at Baylis Elementary School.

Q: When will I be notified which team my child is on?
A: Once all teams are formed, your coach will notify you. All players will be contacted one week before the season begins
Q: How can I register my child?
A: You can register your child online by using this link.
Q: What are the fees?
A: The registration fee is $250 per child (covers both the Fall and Spring intramural seasons). A late surcharge is added to any late registrant
Q: What do the fees pay for?
A: The Following is the Fee breakdown for both Intramural and Travel
- Registration (Administration, labor, supplies, website hosting)
- NY Red Bull Academy Training
- Long Island Junior Soccer League player registration
- Equipment (balls, cones, goals, nets, med kits, trophies)
- Field Maintenance and referees
SSC carries supplemental insurance for all players, coaches, assistant coaches, Board members and referees.
Q: What size ball does my child need?
A: See Below:
- Size 3- U4, thru U8.
- Size 4- U9 thru U12.
Q: What equipment is needed for practice and games?
A: Shin Pads covered completely by socks with Soccer Cleats. Baseball cleats are not allowed (cleat in center of toe).
- No jewelry of any kind.
- Medical bracelets must be taped down.
- A soccer ball (its more fun when everyone has one).
- Water bottle.
Q: Does SSC participate in Indoor Soccer?
A: Yes and No...The SSC does not belong to or participate in an Indoor League as a Club, however Travel Teams may independently enter and parents may enter groups of children into a league. The Club does offer Indoor Training during the winter months. Watch the website for Winter Registration.
Q: Do SSC teams participate in tournaments?
A: The Club generally takes part in three tournaments annually:
- Columbus Day Tournament (The SSC is the host); Parental commitments are required.
- Memorial Day Tournament
- Father’s Day Tournament
Q: How many games are there in a season?
A: The schedule varies from season to season, but the children will play 7 - 9 games per season.
Q: Does registration cover both the Fall and Spring seasons?
A: Yes, you need only register one time per year. For travel teams, although registration is once yearly, prior to the Spring season, all players parents are required to login to their SportsSignup family accounts and click on the "Agree To Consent" form so that they may be re-rostered for the Spring Season.
