The Syosset Soccer Club honored long time SSC member and volunteer, David Locker, as its "Volunteer of the Year" at the 32nd Annual LIJSL Convention. This honor took place at a Volunteer Awards Dinner on March 7th, 2014 at the Hilton Huntington Hotel in Melville, NY. David Locker, an education administrator by trade, and eight year veteran of Syosset Soccer Club's Board of Directors, grew up in Syosset in the 80s.
Psychology is an important part of being in athletics. Players need to have the ability to be mentally strong to face challenges and overcome failures they may have within their sport. Players will mature with their mental strength and ability at different ages. Gender as well will have an effect because males and females mature at different ages.
“I got recruited to coach my kid’s soccer team. Any advice?” The most recent time I heard this question, it came from a parent of a 6-year-old. It prompted me to put an answer in writing, based on some of the best insight I’ve gotten from coaches and players I’ve interviewed and observed over the years.

Soccer’s rules and regulations are maintained and updated annually by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). The board consists of eight members, four of which come from FIFA, and the other four coming from England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales – all countries that contributed to the development of the sport.
