(Long Island, NY-April 18, 2013) Nassau County welcomed the New York Cosmos soccer team, in the midst of a big comeback, to Mitchel Field this week. Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano announced that the Cosmos soccer club, pending approval of the County Legislature, will invest $400,000 in rehabilitating a dilapidated, dry dirt field at Mitchel Field and transform it into the team’s new practice facility. 

Soccer’s rules and regulations are maintained and updated annually by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). The board consists of eight members, four of which come from FIFA, and the other four coming from England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales – all countries that contributed to the development of the sport.
